getting the game face on

One more conference between me and San Antonio. This weekend is the YALSA Institute in Nashville (and not at Opryland!!!) where I will present a session with my friend and colleague Rosemary Chance on censorship and then go listen to all the other workshops. I am looking forward to the trip as I have some down time to plan the NCTE presentations still in progress.

hurricane update

While we do not have power at home (nor are we scheduled to have power at home for some time), the university does. So, here I am with laptop charging and cell phone charging and Ipod charging and AC running. I am a happy camper for now. Soon, we will head back to the house where it will be a tad more "sweaty." No generator, no power. But we do have water and supplies and lanterns by which we read at night.

Thanks. Well, the webinar went. That's all I can say for sure. I know we all gave it a strong effort. I've been working with teaching film in one of my methods classes and mentioned your webinar and that interesting tidbit about what happens when a teacher shows the movie before asking student to read the book. :)
