Hi Carol,
I'd be curious to know about any interesting experiences or interactions Mr. Diaz had with teachers as he was growing up. I know he has talked about being a 'ghetto nerd' and being bussed to a mostly white high school. Did any of his tea...

Hi Shelbi! Sandi Barnhouse and I have a new gallery up. It is called Where We are From. It will be a collection of "Where I'm From" poems from writers of all ages. I invite you to submit your own "Where I'm From" poem to our gallery. We also welcome digital stories. Please invite your students and colleagues to submit to the gallery. We'd love to have pieces from all over the country!
Very nice to meet you. Thanks for adding me. I'm interested in finding out what your position is at Florida State. I am thinking of joining the ranks of university myself here in New Mexico. Let's talk in San Antonio. Hope to see you there.
Hey, Shelbie! I hope we have time to get together in San Antonio. I present the first session on Friday then I'm free to go to sessions and have those collegial conversations that we are all about.
Shelbie,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll be in San Antonio Wednesday to Tuesday, so surely we'll find some time... I will indeed e-mail you again when the time draws near. Stay well.
Shelbie,
A sincere pleasure meeting you at the recent FCTE conference in Orlando. Thoroughly enjoyed your wildly creative and practical presentation with such clever ideas for writing and playing with language. You are the best....
Would love to sit down with you in San Antonio over a tall decaf no-whip double-shot mocha latte and find out more about what you do and how and why you're doing it. I have much to learn from you. Best of wishes to the best of colleagues.
No problem. My whole family lives in SA. You have to shop at the mexican market and eat at Mi Tierra's for real mexican food. Take the river walk boat tour. There are plenty of malls to shop at- including one which has a river going through it. One mall is within walking distance of the Alamo. I will have to get a list of off the beaten path of things to do for everyone.
Thanks, Shelbie. It's going to be quite a meeting. Let me try to get in touch with you a little later in September when I've had a chance to work on a few things. Susan Houser (Murphy) is going to help with the Pathways, too, so between the three of us, we should be able to give FCTE leaders and meeting registrants a good idea of how they can take the Pathways where they want to go...
For those at my panel and other interested parties, I am uploading my presentation as well as some documents which you can use. If you have any questions or comments please contact me.
