There are two resources recently from NCTE that really made me rethink this subject. English Journal had a great issue on homework in November 2008. http://www.ncte.org/journals/ej/issues/v98-2
You can also just buy this issue if you aren't a sub...
Let's talk. I'm working on a smaller family literacy symposium for Sept. 17/18th right now and once we've got final numbers was going to contact you. You can call or e-mail me at kdunsmore@ballfoundation.org. I'm quite free this week (writing) except for Friday.
Dear Sharon: thank you for your kind note. Thus far I'm teaching undergrad & grad courses in Research Methods for Rhetoric & Composition; Literacy, Language, & Globalization; Comparative Technologies of Writing; Mexican-American Literature, and Literacy in Mesoamerica, Colonial Mexico, and the U.S. Mexico Border. Sometime I'd love to hear your thoughts on current trends in instructional technology, administration, and the future of ReadWriteThink. All best,
Just rolling through the list of people here and saw a familiar friendly face! I'm sure our paths will cross in Texas so please look for my smiling face somewhere in the maddening throngs!
Sure thing! I have a wiki that also serves as host for a few finished projects. The site address is dcohen.wikispaces.com. Ask to join, and I will approve your membership. (I need to keep it relatively private, as some of the projects are a bit revealing.)
Sharon, thanks for writing and for your news and notes. No, I had not encountered a 'ning' before, but this is just excellent...especially for the Council's purposes. I expect that good things will happen because of this innovation. Whose idea was it to get this site started? Kylene's? I am doing a session for CEL's conference in November; other than that, I'll be attending sessions, doing convention lunches, and strolling the riverwalk.
Hi, Sharon, what a great way to build a sense of connection and community among our colleagues. We should have done this years and years ago! My best wishes to you, my most esteemed colleague. Will see you again in San Antonio in November. Looking forward to the conference.
What an absolutely fabulous presentation and what tremendous teaching, Charles. I so wish I could have seen this "live." I love the idea of an award ceremony named "The Willies." Your students are very lucky.
Takes me back to Stephen Greenblatt's...
