Hi Pamela,

MIT university is trying to build a free resource to help kids learn SAT/ACT thru the power of user-generated images and video. We are currently running a nationwide contest, challenging kids to make fun and memorable flashcards by pairing sentences and images to a common test word. There will be a small cash prize and iTunes giveaways. Due date is May 22.

More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules. Do you have students or colleagues who would be interested?

Pam,
I am just getting started with this. I haven't joined anything yet, nor spent the time to research things. Wasn't FCTE great? I have been doing QUICK WRITES with teh students. I love seeing the students writiing away at their desks, and then so eager to share their work with their neighbors. It is at times like this that I love being an ENGLISH TEACHER!

By the way, in my photo here, I'm the one on the right. (It can be confusing, I know).

Pam,
Such a pleasure to meet you at the FCTE conference in Orlando. Enjoyed your company and conversation muchly. Glad you like all those 'strange and unnatural' photos on my web page here. Stay well; stay in touch; eat more chocolate (works for me). My e-mail again is...golub62@comcast.net

I just looked at your page and I do like the printables. They may help with some of my ESL students. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

As a side note: When I was an undergraduate at Maryville College in TN, I wrote a short story about the functions of the parts of speech in my English Grammar class. Since I was also taking creative writing, I was allowed to do this. I am using it...

I must see that. I love it! My husband is even more anal about grammar than I.

I am looking forward to having some time this weekend to put into practice some of the wonderful technological things I've learned about during the convention. I was inspired to write a few poems, and I began my YA novel! Finally! Thanks to Mark W...

Thank you so much, Kent, for your quick reply. I will be looking for it in Feb/Mar and hopefully see it sooner here on the Ning! I think incorporating the power point is essential to capturing the power behind her words for people who were not pre...
