Hi, Janet. What a pleasure it is to hear from you. Things have gone well for me since leaving MSU. I am at NYU now, mining the vineyard. I look forward to keeping in touch.
Oh good: we might see each other! *Two* grandsons: u r kidding ;) Congratulations: that's wonderful. I'm at the Riverwalk, too: call me when you get in? 864 710 0757
Hi Janet. Thanks for inviting me to be your friend. This is pretty neat. I will have to begin inviting people to join. See you in San Antonio. Best, Diane.
Janet,
this was a very cool video. It started out reminding me of Spaulding Gray's monologue Swimming to Cambodia (not in content, but in delivery) except of course the monologue was delivered over animation etc. And then the content blended overt elements of theory. I liked this a lot.
(I can see the influence of Victor's style on his work!)
thank you,
Dale
Janet, I'd be happy to accept your invitation. I actually went to Michigan State as a freshman. Loved the campus and terrific, first year classes. (I must have been living in a cloud, so happy to be away from home and on my own.) I so look forward to the convention. Ruth

So far there has been no response from NCTE in any form since the postings on the website of the Washington Post. The bottom line remains:
NCTE has approved of a plan that calls for
(1) Explicit, systematic teaching of literacy as the only path.

Approximately 8 million students in grades 4-12 are reading below grade level. Limited literacy skills cause 3,000 students to drop out of high school every day.

Will I see you in SFO? I remember passing you and Patti on the street in front of the Ghiradelli chocolate store when the last C's was in SFO.
Hope all is well with you.
