Hi Jacqui--it is great to see the person who has handled the incredible details for this huge gathering. I look forward to meeting you in person.

Jacqui,
I have received my program but I see no mention of B.56. Nor is my name pulled up when I go to the on-line version of the catalogue. I am now poised to come (all's well here, thank goodness), and despite my concern over reaction to my NCTE presentation (educators were both miffed and outraged), I'm coming in the spirit of building on what we've got in the Reading Guidelines. What shall we do about this? Ruthie
Hi Jacqui. Our state affiliate conference, MCTE's Autumn Assembly 2008, was a success--received many positives on evaluations and other feedback as to variety of sessions, appropriateness of theme (Art & Writing), keynotes, food, and our special attention this year to presenters (hospitality room and presenter ribbons).
Attending the Leadership Meetings in Milwaukee last June helped a lot with the organization of sessions, promotion, exhibits, and thank yous to speakers and donors. We are now working on ways to build membership among students/pre-service teachers, who often show up for one conference and then are rarely heard from again. We tried to roll the conference and membership costs together this year, but this was prohibitive for some. Any recommendations? (Toby Kahn-Loftus, whom you may have already met, will be pres next year, but Kia Jane Richmond and I plan to assist her with the planning and facilitation of the 2009 conference.) Thanks in advance for your wisdom!
Thank you so much, Jacqui for the tip on the meal-time speakers at the first time attendees comment wall. It is good to to know, because the meal tickets were a little pricey and I wasn't sure how many I would want. I like knowing that if I still want to hear the speaker, I can check it out!
Thanks, Jacqui. I'll look forward to correspondence on this NING to learn more about important events at the conference. It can link nicely to the Early Childhood NING - Everyone, let the early childhood educators in your lives know about the Day of Early Childhood. It's Saturday of the convention and we have a day full of great speakers beginning with Katie Wood Ray's opening keynote and Debbie Rowe's closing keynote. We will also have a meeting for anyone interested in proposing an Early Childhood Assembly and that meeting will be directly after Debbie Rowe's closing keynote in the same room!
For those at my panel and other interested parties, I am uploading my presentation as well as some documents which you can use. If you have any questions or comments please contact me.
