How do we become 21st century teachers? How can teachers grow and lead across their careers?

How does one become a 21st century teacher? How does an experienced teacher continue growing once she/he has reached all the traditional milestones? What alternatives exist to the traditional concept of becoming a dept. chair or a principal? What other options are there for leadership and growth? I'm going to address these topics in my presentation. The closer I've gotten to presenting, the more I've realized that my presentation contains these thoughts. Hi Dana,

MIT university is trying to build a free resource to help kids learn SAT/ACT thru the power of user-generated images and video. We are currently running a nationwide contest, challenging kids to make fun and memorable flashcards by pairing sentences and images to a common test word. There will be a small cash prize and iTunes giveaways. Due date is May 22.

More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules. Do you have students or colleagues who would be interested?

Hi Dana,

Thanks for posting the links to your documents. One line from your Google Site strikes me as something I will share with my teachers: "As hard as it is to change what we teach and how we teach, we must do so. I believe it's our responsibility to prepare students for the world they will inherit, a world very different from that of 20 or 10 years ago."

Great stuff.

Hi Dana,

What a wonderful surprise to get your message, Dana! Thanks for the invitation to attend your session on social justice. I have a luncheon to attend. Then I have to go to J.01 for a bit. I'll try to get to yours, too, if I can. I am so glad you are doing a session on social justice - most important. Your message is most appreciated.

Blessings to you,
Yvonne

Sounds great. I'll put your number in my phone too!

Hey, look at the contact I've made with your fellow PA teacher. It is a small world. My mom is a western PA girl.

I don't get there 'til Thurs. PM. What was I thinking?

Talk to you!

i programmed your numer and i'm cool with posting min: 412-551-9433. i'd liek to meet you too... i was going through some old classroom pictures and i found some stuff that really reflects the whole notion of Disturb the Universe.. my students, spray painted those very words in Red Paint on a HUGE background. It stayed in the back of the room -- posted high -- an artifact to the culture of our class --to what we hoped to move toward.

i'm getting really excited about the convention. i'm flying in tuesday. when do you arrive?

talk soon.
