Comment by Lauren Davis on December 8, 2008 at 10:19am - Amsco School Publications just came out with a new adolescent literacy series that is chock-full of helpful, engaging reading strategy lessons. The series is called Strategy Central for the Active Reader and there are three volumes--Literature, Nonfiction, and Information. Each book contains high-interest readings and 22 key reading strategies, taught using a before-, during-, and after-reading structure. Comment by Pamela Murawski on October 26, 2008 at 8:57pm - My 8th graders just did their first "Sketch to Stretch" and practiced making a conclusion about what they read. Let's just say they need a LOT of practice on this one.
