Amanda,

Send a note to ndw@ncte.org with the name of the author who indicated that they submitted to your gallery. With that information we can check to see where the piece currently resides.

Mia,
I am the curator of the site. Other people have told me that they have submitted pieces, but I have not gotten any notifications since I got the first 7 or so submissions last spring. When I log on I don't see any indication that anyone has submitted anything.

thanks,
Amanda

Amanda,

Once you log in, you will see a status column next to your contribution. It will tell you if the piece has been submitted (meaning waiting for review) or accepted into the gallery. If this doesn't help, please send an email to ndw@ncte.org with your contribution id number or title of the piece.

Elisa,

You can either upload all of them as a single file, or use the contribute on behalf of others function and contribute each one individually. For more information visit www.galleryofwriting.org and select Contribute My Writing.

Hi! I posted a question regarding how to upload an entire class' writing pieces and never received a response. Now I see that it possibly never got posted. Help!

Several people have told me that they have submitted work to the gallery, but I have not gotten any notifications and when I go to the gallery there is no indication that the work was submitted. It seems to be lost in cyberspace.

I have had a request to link a local Writing Project Gallery to the NWP Parent directory. This is the first I have of this. How should I handle this request?
Thank you.

We've had a great response here, especially from colleagues in other disciplines who have made a point of commending students on their writing. Lots of wonderful crosstalk. However, one of my English teachers also noted this: "It seems that when you copy and paste a segment of text directly from the "National Gallery of Writing" into Google or Yahoo, neither search engine recognizes the text as being copied from a previous source. Perhaps is has something to do with the use of PDF files in the gallery?

This will create a serious potential problem for teachers when it comes to plagiarism in the classroom, a battle that teachers are already fighting nationwide. It becomes an even more serious threat since the gallery is so easily searchable by writing style and topic." Personally I guess I'm willing to accept the trade off but she does raise a valid concern.

Hi David, NCTE included the questions for research purposes. Since research is a prime goal for the gallery, we found them necessary even though they do slow down the submission process a bit. Millie

If those questions are for each, then it isn't much of a "multiple submission" link. I feel sorry for the person who left a discussion question about 300 submissions she was trying to upload. I have only a few, so I'll tough it out, but the comments I'm getting from people about my gallery is that the amount of questions really put them off on submitting.
